Kaz Morton Ceramics
Irish born artist, Karen Morton is the maker behind ‘Kaz Morton Ceramics’ and she is the founder of Clay & Co.
This Master of Fine Art graduate in painting and ceramics uses traditional techniques to create both functional and non-functional pieces. Inspired by the simplicity of everyday objects Karen invites us to take a closer look… Unexpected symbols, nostalgic linen and wallpaper patterns feature in her ceramics. In her work she seeks to explore and encapsulate the bewilderment of an undiscovered object or surface.
Karen likens the process of working in porcelain and painting to spending time with close friends, each material has its own personality. Porcelain is such a modest material to work with and the process is quiet organic and occurs over a long period of time, whilst painting is more of a free process.
Kaz is a published artist. Her work has been featured in Vogue, Inside Out, Home Beautiful. She has been interviewed and featured in The Design Files, The Interiors Addict and various podcasts. Her work can be found in cookbooks by Matt Preston, Donna Hay, Charlotte Ree and Lola Berry and her clients include Greenhouse Interiors, Peninsula Hot Springs, QT Hotels and various restaurants and coffee houses world wide.
